The Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1911 and is currently comprised of 3 branches: Fire, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and Search and Rescue (SAR). We are dedicated to life safety and the protection of property.
Department Branches
Firefighters are the first line of defense against fires, rescues, and hazardous situations. Volunteers respond to emergencies, operate firefighting equipment, and work as a team to protect lives and property. Training includes fire suppression, search and rescue, and emergency scene management.
EMS volunteers provide critical medical care in emergencies. From responding to accidents and medical calls to stabilizing patients before transport, EMS plays a vital role in saving lives. Training includes first aid, CPR, and advanced medical response.
Search and Rescue teams specialize in locating and assisting missing or injured individuals in remote and challenging environments. Volunteers train in navigation, survival skills, rope rescues, and working with local agencies to bring people home safely.
